300gsm A5 Leaflets get New Spanish Class up and Running
Antony Costa decided that the best way to get the Spanish class off the ground was through doing some A5 leaflet printing. He had seen one of his competitors use A5 leaflets before and thought this maybe a good option.
“I needed to reach a huge amount of people without spending a lot of money. This was a new idea, spending a big amount on A5 full colour leaflets didn’t make any sense” Antony explained.
Some samples of different leaflets were sent to him in the mail and he decided to go for the A5 flyer paper. A5 leaflet paper is 210x148mm. A leaflet this size allows you enough space to display all your main details like address, number and some info on what your company does. 300gsm A5 leaflets aren't the cheapest A5 printing but they are very high quality. Cheap A5 leaflet printing can still be very high quality, but 300gsm A5 print really sell a business.
“The A5 printers sent some samples of A5 colour printing in the mail. A5 flyer printing could be done in several weights of paper. The thickest was 400gsm that was like a hard card. For starters, it made sense to go for something not too expensive but I still wanted great quality, so eventually I opted for A5 leaflets on 300gsm gloss. These weren't the cheapest A5 flyer print but the quality was good for the price.”
After looking at the ups and downs of creating the A5 flyer designs using his own skills and paying a graphic designer, Antony eventually decided on getting A5 flyer design done for only 1 side. But he still opted to go for the double-sided A5 flyers, this is because it can double your response rate from leaflet distribution. The reason for this is that during leaflet distribution, 50% of the A5 leaflets will land face down and therefore advertise nothing. This will drastically reduce the chances of anyone picking it up and reading it. Leaflet distribution is a numbers game, and small changes can make a big difference.
“In the beginning I wanted to do the design of the leaflet myself. The best I could do was a poor effort in Word! I was advised by the A5 flyer printers that the picture I used on the A5 colour leaflets would look pixelated. After showing it to some friends they said it looked like I had designed it, and even though I needed to spend as little as possible, it was a waste of money to spend a fortune on printing a rubbish design. In the end I opted to just have one side of the A5 leaflet professionally designed. The professional design would be placed on the front and back of the A5 leaflet, because it wouldn’t change the cost of printing.”
Antony received the 1st proof the day after sending his design brief, and he requested that the photo used to be changed, and his phone number to be changed. The design was amended and emailed back to him. Once it was approved the A5 printing began.
“I couldn’t wait to get my A5 flyers in the mail, when I got them I was ecstatic. The leaflets felt and looked fantastic. The 5000 A5 leaflets all with my company on them looked impressive. I spent the next 11 days handing out the A5 leaflets myself in the local area, this was a lot more work than I expected! They all had my mobile number on, and I took calls and booked lessons as I got responses. After all the A5 flyers had been distributed, I had, had 23 calls in total. The response was big enough to get my company started. I am now starting to get referred by those people, so it has resulted in many more clients. The number of responses more than paid for the 5000 A5 flyers. I am now planning to get another 40,000 A5 flyers printed this year. However, on this occasion, both sides of the A5 leaflet are getting designed!”
