300gsm A6 Flyers Help Promote Newly Started Karate School
In order to promote the new karate school in the local area, Jacob Marley decided that he would get some A6 printing. He had seen one of his competitors use A6 flyer print before and thought this maybe a good option.
“I was looking for the cheapest way to get my business out there to as many people as possible. Because it was a new business, I did not want to spend a huge amount on A6 colour flyers and put all my eggs in one basket” Jacob explained.
After receiving some leaflet samples in the post, he decided to go for the A6 flyer size. A6 leaflets are 105x148mm in size. A leaflet this size allows you enough space to display all your main details like address, number and some info on what your company does. The cheapest A6 flyers that are about, are usually printed on something lighter than 300gsm. Cheap A6 flyer printing can still be very high quality, but 300gsm A6 flyers are a step above the rest.
“I received some samples of the cheap A6 flyers in the post from the A6 flyer printers. There were several different thicknesses of the A6 printing. The thickest was 400gsm that was like a hard card. For starters, it made sense to go for something inbetween, so I went for the 300gsm gloss A6 leaflets. The cheapest A6 flyers weren't printed on this material, but I was looking for quality.”
After exploring the alternatives of doing the A6 flyer design himself or hiring a professional designer, Jacob eventually decided on getting only 1 side of the A6 leaflet designed. However, he still wanted to get the design printed on either side of a double sided A6 leaflet, this is because it can double your response rate from leaflet distribution. This is because if you post the leaflet through the door and it lands printed face down then it will look like a blank piece of paper. This hugely decreases the amount of potential clients who will actually pick the leaflet up. Leaflet distribution is a numbers game, and small changes can make a big difference.
“In the beginning I wanted to do the design of the leaflet myself. The best I could do was a poor effort in Word! I was advised that the picture I used on the A6 flyers would look pixelated. My design also looked very much like a start-up business, and although I did want to keep costs down, it did not make sense to spend a lot of money on printing a terrible design. In the end I opted to just have one side of the A6 leaflet professionally designed. The professional design would be placed on the front and back of the leaflet, because it wouldn’t change the cost of printing.”
The 1st proof of the design was sent to Jacob the next day, and he asked for another picture to be added, and a few more sentences to be added to the back. The changes were made and sent back to him for approval. Jacob sent back his approval for the design and the leaflet printing began.
“I couldn’t wait to get my A6 flyers in the mail, when I got them I was ecstatic. The design looked very professional and the quality was good. The 10,000 A6 flyers all with my company on them looked impressive. I spent the next 11 days handing out the A6 leaflets myself in the local area, which was harder than I thought! All the leaflets had my contact details on, and every now and again my phone would ring whilst I was handing the leaflets out. After all the A6 flyers had been distributed, I had, had 23 calls in total. This was enough to get my business up and running. I am now starting to get referred by those people, so it has resulted in many more clients. The number of responses more than paid for the A6 flyer printing. Next time I intend to get at least 20,000 A6 flyers printed. However, on this occasion, I’m not going hand them out myself!”
